ORLÉANS

Talented young musicians will be performing as part of the Gloucester Music Club's Concert series on Friday, February 6 and Saturday, February 7 at 7:30 p.m. at Orléans United Church, 1111 Orléans Blvd. Tickets are $4 each or $10 for a family, available at the door. The Orléans-Cumberland Community Resource Centre, in partnership with l'Union culturelle des Franco-ontariennes (Sarsfield's Circle), the Coopérative Multiservices and the City of Ottawa's Public Health Department, invite you to come celebrate International Women's Day on Wednesday, March 3, at Place Sarsfield, 2835 Colonial Road, Sarsfield. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. and dinner will be served at 6 p.m. Come enjoy a meal and some entertainment in company of other women. As usual, door prizes and fun will meet you there! Innovative Community Support Services will be hosting a dinner and dance on Friday, February 12, from 5 to 10 p.m. at the Orléans Legion, 800 Taylor Creek Drive. The ICSS is a non-profit agency providing support for individuals whose lives are impacted by developmental delays, physical disabilities and mental health issues. Silent auction. Tickets are $35 per person or $60 per couple. All proceeds from this event will be sent to assist victims of the Haitian earthquake. Cumberland Soccer serving Orléans and surrounding areas is holding walk-in registration at Sir Wilfrid Laurier High School in the Cafeteria from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, February 6. Do you have photos of yourself or ancestors working their farm or engaged in trades around the years from 1939 to 1975? The Orléans Anniversary Society would like to borrow them in order to prepare an exhibition for the Orléans Heritage Days which will be held next summer. The Gloucester Handicaps Association meets every Monday morning at the Bob McQuarrie Recreational Centre, 1490 Youville Drive. Come on out and enjoy socializing, games, chair exercises and outings. The Orléans-Cumberland Community Resource Centre's Emergency Food Bank, 860 Taylor Creek Promenade, Unit 4, is operating under new hours. Food donation deliveries can be dropped off at the food bank on Tuesdays, between 11:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m., Wednesdays between 8:30 a.m. and 12 p.m., and the second and fourth Thursday of every month between 8:30 a.m. and 12 p.m. There will also be new office hours for clients: Tuesdays between 4:30 and 7:30 p.m., Thursdays between 1:30 and 4:30 p.m. and Fridays between 9 a.m. and noon. If you are in need of food, you are welcome to come during these hours and the centre will be available to serve you.

A'Chord East, is an amateur musical group, based in Orléans, made up primarily of stringed instruments. We play Celtic music and some classical and folk music. Founded in September 2001, the group focuses on learning new repertoire, playing various styles of music and improving skills and techniques. We perform at a number of volunteer public performances, but Rule #1 is to have fun. Rehearsals take place every Wednesday at 9:45 -11:45 a.m. at Queenswood Villa, 370 Kennedy Lane. The Bytown Beat, a capella (barbershop) women's choir meets every Monday night at 7 p.m. Come and join them at Orléans United Church, 1111 Orléans Blvd.

The Orléans-Cumberland Community Resource Centre, 210 Centrum Blvd., Suite 211, in partnership with the Baptiste Évangélique du Bon Berger Church, has organized a Clothing & Furniture Distribution Centre to serve low-income residents of Orléans-Cumberland. BLACKBURN HAMLET

On the first Wednesday of each month, starting at 7 p.m., the Separation/Divorce Resource Centre will be providing a free information session on the "Rebuilding When Your Relationship Ends Seminar," at 110 Bearbrook Road, Suite 206, Blackburn Hamlet. Thinking of divorce? Problem relationship? Divorced and wondering what happened? Having difficulties with a healthy relationship? Couples coaching in lieu of separating, providing viable solutions. We are a non profit resource centre which offers Monday and Wednesday morning playgroups from 9:00-noon. Everyone is welcome. Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday afternoons from 1:00-4:00 we offer activity based programming from children aged 2-5. This is a program where the parents and care givers are invited to drop the children off under the supervision of our staff. GLOUCESTER

Come on out to the Gloucester Senior Adults' Centre and try your skills at fun activities like shuffleboard or pétanque-atout, or test your talents while participating in drop-in activities such as painting, tai chi or line dancing. The Centre is located above the Earl Armstrong Arena at 2020 Ogilvie Road. The Centre is air-conditioned and is open Monday thru Friday 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. We do offer a wide range of recreational activities, special events, trips and a luncheon program. QUEENSWOOD HEIGHTS

Queenswood Heights Cooperative Playgroup meets Mondays from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. at the Queenswood Heights Community Centre, 1485 Duford Drive. There is a large playroom with a variety of preschool toys and full access to kitchen, bathroom and parking facilities. Parents/caregivers can stay with their child(ren) and participate in the preparation, presentation and clean-up of activities. First visit is free, come join in the fun! The Ottawa Artisans Guild (formerly the Gloucester Craftsmen's Guild) will meet every third Thursday of the month at the Cyrville Community Centre at 4355 Halmot Drive off of Ogilvie Road at 7:30 p.m. Everyone is welcome to come out and meet other artists and crafters in the Ottawa area. Help With Furniture is looking for volunteers for a Wednesday Night Move Team, to help with furniture pick ups in designated areas of the city. Volunteers and helpers will then proceed to deliver the furnishings and necessary amenities of a home as a welcome to refugee families. Two or three families are moved in each week. Hours are 6 to 11 p.m. Carpooling is encouraged. The Resource and Referral Department at the Eastern Ottawa Resource Centre offers crisis and short-term counseling services, as well as information and referral services on health, long and short term counselling, et cetera. The department can be contacted via 613-741-6025, or drop-in and see us in the Beacon Hill Shopping Centre, 2339 Ogilvie Road. The centre also runs an emergency food partnership, distributes baby supplies, offers low-cost voicemail boxes, and hosts a Legal Aid Clinic on Tuesdays from 4 to 7 p.m.
